Here is some information
about the first
session that may
be helpful:
Time of the
First Appointment
Please plan to arrive 30 minutes early for your
first appointment in order to fill out the initial paperwork. If you prefer, you can
download the paperwork on-line and fill them out before you arrive. Some of our
clients find that this saves them time. Please bring the completed forms with
you to the first meeting.

Our Main Office Location

Map of 16 Leon Sullivan Way Charleston, WV 25301-2402, US
First Presby takes up the whole block between Virginia and
Kanawha Boulevard. If you are coming from the Interstate onto Leon Sullivan, go
straight through four traffic lights, and cross straight through at Virginia. We
are the last Church on the left, across from the Charleston Catholic High
School Gymnasium.
The driveway entrance into the Church parking lot is
half-way down this last block, on the left. As you pull into the driveway you
will see some double glass doors on the building on your left (the bigger
building), come in through those doors and take the elevator up to the 3rd
Floor. Follow the signs down the hall to our main waiting area.

Please Introduce Yourself
Once in our waiting area, please introduce yourself to
Lynda or Mandy, our office receptionists.
Their office is through the glass
windowed door in
our waiting area.
In the First Session
In the first session the counselor
will ask you questions about your current situation, why you are seeking help
now, what you are seeking help for, and what your initial goals are. Your
counselor may begin to work with you on clarifying your goals, and developing
positive goals that are closely connected to your deep core values. Your
counselor might also begin to work with you on developing positive motivations
for reaching your goals.
Counseling is a collaborative
process.
In each session, your counselor will review your goals with you
and evaluate with you your progress towards your goals. During the sessions, the
counselor will work with you to help you develop the resources you need to
achieve your goals.
Clear, positive goals, external support, and internal
commitment and motivation are part of the formula for a successful outcome in
counseling.
The counselor's job is to help you achieve your goals. We
wish you much success!
Our ultimate goal is to help you have a better relationship with yourself and
with others.
